Master Parcours Météorologie, Océanographie, Climat, Ingénierie pour les observations Spatiales (MOCIS)

Course Details

Objectives : Training sweeps much of the problems related to remote sensing: from the physical basis of matter-radiation interaction (electromagnetism, radiative transfer, acoustic), through the techniques of engineering sciences related to the definition of instruments (optical, radar, satellite, orbit determination), and interpretation of data (image processing, data signal, computer), training also offers students the opportunity to improve some aspects of thematic research through two options: one facing the atmospheric science and ocean and backed by the laboratory of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace, and the other oriented geophysical and observation of the Earth and Planets , backed by the laboratory of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.

For part Methods Physics and Remote Sensing M2, lessons and assessments are completely common to all institutions, even if the name of the specialty differs. (see http://teledetection.lmd.jussieu.fr/mpt/ http://teledetection.ipgp.jussieu.fr/mpt/ or sites).

Public concerned : Students who have a solid foundation in physics and applied mathematics, a licence degree for access in M1 or a master's degree first year, or engineering school for access to M2

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements : L3 for M1 or M1 or equivalent for M2

Prerequisites : Licence level for acces in M1 or master degree in physics, mechanics or applied mathematics for M2

Targeted careers : The MOCIS course opens up to various professions: higher education and research, communities and large companies sensitive to climate or meteorology (banks, insurance, public sector, etc.), small innovative companies (space sector, climate risks, energy resources renewable).

Specific preparation for the special Météo-France “Works Engineer” competition is also organized in the 2nd semester of this course.

The basics acquired in Master 1 also allow you to reorient yourself towards other Master 2 in related fields: oceanography, meteorology and air quality, climate, renewable energies and engineering sciences for the environment, data analysis spatialized, fluid dynamics.

Duration and terms : 6 semesters
