Master Géomatique Parcours Géographies Numériques(GéoNum)

Course Details

Objectives : The "Digital Geographies" Master's program is part of the evolving landscape of geographic data science. Rooted in the field of geomatics, it trains specialists in the methods and uses of managing and representing geographic information, equipping them to lead digital projects for cities and regions.

It is jointly organized by Lumière University Lyon 2 and Jean Monnet University of Saint-Étienne, in partnership with Jean Moulin University Lyon 3.

Public concerned : Students - Success in the GeoNum Master's program requires an interest in geography or the geographical dimension of phenomena, an aptitude for computer science, and the active and thoughtful use of digital tools. The Master's program is a logical next step for students in geography or planning, environmental science, and computer science. Students from other fields may apply, but they must demonstrate motivation and/or scientific expertise.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements : The first year of the Master's program is open to students holding a Bachelor's degree in Geography or Planning, Environmental Science, or Computer Science.
Students from other fields will have their applications reviewed by a committee whose decision is final. Their acceptance into the first year of the Master's program may be conditional upon completing preparatory courses in certain areas.

Targeted careers : The master's program prepares students for careers in geomatics and geographic information, which APEC has placed among the "10 jobs of the future".
Examples of jobs: geomatics engineer, GIS developer, data administrator, GIS project manager, cartographer, territorial studies officer, to which will be added jobs related to data management and digital uses in territories such as data management and connected objects.

Duration and terms : 2 years

Notes : The first year of the Master's program will take place at Jean Monnet University in Saint-Etienne, and the second year of the program at Lumière University Lyon 2.
