Master 2 Matériaux pour l’énergie et les transports (MET)

Course Details

Objectives : Give students a thorough understanding of the physicochemical and mechanical properties of materials (metal, ceramics, semiconductors ...) to address basic and applied research in order either to improve the performance of materials or to implement new materials for structural applications as functional. Particular attention is paid to the characterization and implementation of specific materials for applications under stress in different environments. Learning a strategy choice of materials is also part of the objectives of this training. The experimental aspects, theoretical and multiscale modeling of materials are developed.

The materials studied are intended for use in areas as diverse as nuclear (fission and fusion), energy production through new technologies (photovoltaics, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, electrochemical storage, thermoelectric ... ) and transportation (aerospace, automotive ...).

Public concerned : Students

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements : M1 validated in physics, chemistry, mechanics, materials.
Second year of engineering school validated.

Acquired skills during the training : - Integrate the physico-chemical and mechanical properties of materials taking into account experimental data.
- Apply through numerical simulation software multi-physical and multi-scale models to represent a system and different physical phenomena in evolution.
- Use the concepts of characterization and implementation of specific materials used in fields as varied as C45 energy production by new technologies and transport.
- Develop a scientific approach and explain an argument.
- Participate and contribute to research proactively (internship).
- Communicate and present the results of the work.
