Courses

Master 2 Modélisation et Simulation en Mécanique et Energétique (MSME)

Course Details

Objectives : - Train "bac+5" graduates with a mechanical engineer profile in fluid and structure, and energy.
- Provide skills in physical modeling and numerical simulation in the fields of fluid mechanics, structures and energy-thermal.
- Provide an analytical mind and an approach to propose a model or conduct and validate numerical simulations on industrial issues.
- Train young graduates capable of occupying managerial positions in the environment of industrial systems (aeronautical, space, automotive, energy, environment, agri-food, building and public works, business services, transport).
- Train modeling and calculation engineers capable of integrating into a "Research & Development" department, design office, measurements and tests.
- Provide initial knowledge of the business environment (management) and tools for professional integration and project management.
- Learn to organize, structure and present a project, in oral or report form.

Public concerned : Students, Apprentices

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements : Admission is automatic for students who have completed the Master 1 Mechanics and Energetics of the University Toulouse 3 of the previous academic year.

Folder: Any other candidate is selected on record. It must prove one of the following conditions:
- Hold a master 1 in the areas of mechanics, technology mechanics, physics or applied mathematics.
- Being an engineering degree holder,
- Hold a foreign degree recognized as equivalent by the Commission intake,
- Being professional in the industry and follow all or part of the professional master in continuing education.
The records of students who already have a Master 2 or PhD are examined
based on a personal career plan.

Acquired skills during the training : A - Propose, develop and validate physical modeling
- Develop a strategy for studying and modeling a physical situation in mechanics or energy, analytically or semi-analytically.
- Mobilize specialized knowledge in order to propose a complete model of a physical situation.
- Analytically or semi-analytically solve the equations governing a model.
- Establish a critical analysis and validation of a physical model.
B - Propose, develop and validate a modeling or a numerical simulation
- Develop a numerical model characterizing the physics of a problem with an adapted approach, in the main fields of the master or peripheral fields.
- Set up and validate and analyze a numerical simulation of a problem (multiphysics) governed by EDPs or ODEs by applying adequate pre or post-processing
- Implement and simulate a numerical model of a multi-physics system, using a modular approach.
- Implement a numerical or algorithmic solution adapted to a given problem.
C - Use digital tools to manage a scientific or technical project
- Identify and use digital tools specific to the work environment and the profession.
- Use communication tools and collaborative tools.
- Use digital editing and calculation tools effectively to improve the impact of their work.
D - Acquiring, promoting and transferring knowledge
- Identify, select and critically analyze various relevant or specialized resources (especially in English), to document a subject and synthesize this data.
- Communicate for knowledge transfer purposes, orally and in writing, in French and at least in English, write a technical document.
E - Integrate and evolve in a professional environment
- Search for a job or job promotion
- Take autonomy and organize your lifelong training
- Improve its practices as part of a quality approach
- Respect the principles of ethics and environmental responsibility

Targeted careers : Engineering calculations, design office, testing, coaching in the various industrial sectors:
- Transportation (aerospace, automotive, rail, propulsion)
- (Fossil, nuclear, new energy, wind, ...)
- environment, process engineering
The senior staff are provided in all types of businesses:
- SMEs, SMIs and subcontractor
- Large industrial groups
- Research and Public Sectors

Duration and terms : 1 year

Notes : The lessons are delivered by staff of the Department of Mechanics of the UPS, the INPT, CNRS researchers, engineersAIRBUS , CNES, as well as SMEs region.

The training consists of 7 disciplinary Teaching Units, including internship.
The project and practical work-design office approaches are preferred.
