Master Génie Mécanique parcours Sciences pour la Mécanique des Matériaux et des Structures (SMMS)

Course Details

Objectives : The master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (GM) is made up of 4 courses:
Calculation in Aeronautics (CaAero).
Aeronautical Design (CoAero).
Productivity in Aeronautics (ProdAero).
Sciences for Mechanics of Materials and Structures (SMMS).
The first semester of the master's degree is common to all courses. On the one hand, it constitutes a base of skills in the different professions of production, design and calculation of structures and on the other hand it helps with orientation in the different courses offered. This constitutes true multidisciplinarity within the mechanical engineering professions and can facilitate subsequent retraining.

The SMMS course offered only in M2 can be followed from one of the three courses in M1.

The objective of this training is; relying on the Clément Ader Institute (ICA) which brings together mechanical engineering research from UT3, INSAT, ISAE, and IMT Mines Albi-Carmaux, the LGP laboratory in Tarbes, CIRIMAT at the polymer level, CEMES at the material level, IMFT at the fluid structure coupling level; to give students the necessary knowledge to be able to develop high-level research in the field of mechanical engineering.

The training is aimed at students coming from very different M1 or from the various courses of co-accredited engineering schools, there is a wide choice of modules so that each student can, depending on their initial course and in conjunction with with those responsible for training, choose the subjects most appropriate to your professional project.

The lessons provided are based on the experiences of teacher-researchers in their field of research and offer high-level scientific training as well as a vision of fields undergoing strong developments.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Prerequisites : Students admitted to the SMMS master 2 must have at least a bac +4 from an engineering school or a first year master's degree in mechanics or mechanical engineering.

Acquired skills during the training : • Define an experimental plan by mobilizing the technical and organizational rules of the art in the field considered (materials, measurements, calculation of structures, processes, design).
• Develop digital models using software from their technical field.
• Model a mechanical system or mechanical behavior.
• Set up a testing campaign.
• Analyze, understand and exploit a numerical result in order to compare the experiment to the model.
• Develop and deploy a methodology for solving the developed models.

Targeted careers : Professions: Management and engineering studies, research and industrial development

Sectors of activity: Aerospace, Chemistry & materials, Metallurgy & mechanics, Research-innovation

Notes : As the diploma is co-accredited with other establishments, certain courses are taught at ENI of Tarbes, INSA of Toulouse, ISAE Toulouse, Mines Albi.
