BUT Mesures Physiques

Course Details

Objectives : The University Bachelor of Technology in Physical Measurements (BUT-MP) trains highly versatile senior technicians in the fields of physics and chemistry and able to adapt to new technologies. The BUT-MP is built on 5 skills around measurement, metrology, instrumentation, characterization of physicochemical quantities and properties of materials and project management in an environmental approach.

The training, in addition to the theoretical learning, is done mainly by the practice, with in particular the confrontation with the laboratory techniques, the realization of tutored projects, as well as long-term internships in company, in France and abroad. . Through these lessons and practices, students acquire rigor, autonomy and are introduced to taking responsibility and leading teams.

The multidisciplinary nature of the training allows graduates in Physical Measurements to quickly adapt to the problems posed by the rapid development of science and technology, both in an industrial professional environment, and during further studies (immediate or deferred). It is an ideal training for a successful professional and personal project.

The first year all the lessons are in common. From the second year, students choose a course, with enhanced skills and teaching in certain areas. The Caen Physical Measurements department offers three different courses:

Instrumentation techniques (instrumentation, signal processing, communicating & intelligent objects),
Materials and Physico-Chemical Controls (chemistry, materials, advanced materials),
Environmental Measurements and Analyzes (environmental & energy measurements, durability of materials).

Degree Level (EU) : 6 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Acquired skills during the training : The BUT-MP allows you to acquire 5 skills:

Carry out a measurement campaign,
Deploy metrology and the quality approach,
Implement a measurement and instrumentation chain,
Characterize physical and chemical quantities and the properties of a material,
Define specifications for measures in an environmental approach.
The acquisition of these skills is based on the teaching of the following subjects: metrology, electricity, electronics, chemistry, thermodynamics, materials, nuclear physics, optics, automation, signal processing, acoustics, mathematics, project management, environmental measurements, IT, communication, English.

Duration and terms : 3 years
